As the smoke cleared after a long Sunday of doing both races sense mother nature was not that kind to Us. We had the first of 8 finals. With the Junior Dragster eliminator Hunter Talaski taking on Noah Winters. Winters would go red with a -.026 as Talaski would have been dead late at the hit but it wouldn’t matter as he took the winner picker and the points championship holding off the hard charging Austin Williams.
In the first trophy final we had Clint “Sniper” Cadieux taking on Tom Butkovich. Cadieux had him at the hit with a .011 reaction time to Tom’s .077. Tom couldn’t run the number as Cadieux would get there first on the brakes and pick up the win.
In the Box or Top ET final it would be Roy St. Dennis who was steller on the tree all day long would go .021 and go dead on the dial 6.177. Smoking Joe Bouman would run out of real-estate at the big end as he was .049 at the hit running quicker dead on 5.996
In the No-box or Mod final we had Tommy “Bad Boy Racing” Aretakis taking on Darren “The Freak” McChessney to see who would take on the Box final in a run off. Aretakis would drill the tree as he would be perfect .0000 at the hit handing the lost to Darren.
In the Run off we had St. Dennis taking on the young gun Aretakis. St. Dennis representing the Box cars would dial a 6.17 being your chase car as Aretakis would dial a 6.29. St. Dennis had him at the hit with a .024 and both would be on the brakes as St. Dennis would get there first running a 6.19 on a 6.17 taking the win.
In the Junior Dragster second race of the weekend we would have Austin Williams taking on RJ Melnik in an all out final. Williams would have him at the hit with a .117 reaction time to Rj’s .229. Rj would get there first but breaks out with a 13.35 on a 13.50 dial. Williams took the strip with a 12.649 on a 12.60 dial.
In the second trophy final of the day we had The WILD THANG Brent Jezewski getting his first win in his white Trans AM showing off with a .021 reaction time as his opponent would need a ton of help to run him down even though Brent was on the brakes and drove the finish line like a pro he would get a win running a 9.62 on a 9.54 dial.
As the night would fall on the track quickly we would not be able to have a run off as we had three very good drivers vieing for that piece of hard ware and some cash. Representing the Box car was”Smiles” Ken Hansen from Crystal in his Mopar. In the No-Box class we would have two “The Pizza Man” Joe Persi Jr. from Davison in his Mustang and from across the lake “The Hammer” Shawn Laughton and his 84 “GOODNIGHT IRENE” S-10. They all decided on a common ground.
A new champion was crowned the 2013 track champion Gary Williams. Congrates to him and his crew!!!
